Here is a news story you don’t hear everyday. Turns out somebody called 999 (a version of 911 no doubt) to report a strange UFO like object in the night sky. UFO are scary, but in this case the UFO was the moon. Here is the conversation transcript from the source. When you’re done reading you should head over to BBC news and read the whole story. Priceless.

Control Room: “South Wales Police, what’s your emergency?”

Caller: “It’s not really. I just need to inform you that across the mountain there’s a bright stationary object.”

Control room: “Right.”

Caller: “If you’ve got a couple of minutes perhaps you could find out what it is? It’s been there at least half an hour and it’s still there.”

Control: “It’s been there for half an hour. Right. Is it actually on the mountain or in the sky?”

Caller: “It’s in the air.”

Control: “I will send someone up there now to check it out.”

Caller: “OK.”

The mystery was soon solved, as the exchange between control and an officer at the scene, makes clear.

Control: “Alpha Zulu 20, this object in the sky, did anyone have a look at it?”

Officer: “Yes, it’s the moon. Over.”

I didn’t realize this… but you can use the internet for more than playing video games. Turns out you can use it to learn stuff as is evident at this fantastic flash application that houses information about the elements in the periodic table. Very cool. Thanks to Tim for the find.

This video is just wrong on so many levels and was painful for me to watch. This girl is mad at her boyfriend for going to Vegas, so to get back at him she breaks on of his storm trooper action figures. Not cool. If this happened to me… well… the divoice papers would be on their way…
